Any day of the week in the mountains.

Easter Holiday at the Mountains, Part Two

A quiet few days in the mountain makes the Easter start well. Throw in some beers, and we have a complete retreat.

Walking around the Norwegian countryside really makes me forget my busy life in the capital. Even though it is.. what day is is..? Thuesday..? ..I get at a Sunday feel. It is all so quiet, so peaceful, and the things I do are executed slowly.

There is a funny thing about the Norwegian mountain life, when seen from the outside. People seem to keep to themselves most of the time, minding their own business. If at all you are able to see anyone at all. But when something slightly off of the ordinary happens, like a tasting of some local food or some kind of festival, everyone comes out and everyone seem to know each other.

This particular little village is called Vats, and inhabited by a few hundred individuals. It is located in the municipality of Ål, with a population of about 2800 people. Obviously, it is not a big place, but that is exactly what one is looking for as a retreat.

After a short trip out, the four of us went inside for the night. One of the things we did, was to eat and to drink some beers. Nothing spesial about what we ate, but the beer deserves mentioning. Pryl, from the picture above, is a beer made by the Norwegian brewery Kinn, located west in the country. This was a new discovery for me, and a pleasent one at that.

This is what a holiday in the mountains is all about. Quiet days and good nights at the cabin with friends.
